Seeing Double Exhibition

Well, the lovely Ann Nie from Tu asked be to be her second ever exhibitor at her new Stairwell Gallery! It opened last week and was such a fantastic night! This collection you may notice is a bit softer than my last exhibition and the girls are more sweet than sultry but you can read more about it here or with the lovely Emma Bergmeier on her Dropstitch blog. The 20 works are all prints from a range of colour pencil fashion illustrations I did exclusively for the exhibition. Each piece has a sister. All are editions of 10 (so you have ten chances to nab one!) and come framed, some with coloured mats and are $240 each. You can purchase the artwork by contacting Tu: info@tu.com.au

In other news I now have a Facebook artist page! You can check it out and 'like' me here
Also Proenza Schouler retweeted my sketch Show illustration a couple of days ago!!!

CQ Lines of Style Exhibition

This month I was asked to exhibit at Claremont Quarter in conjunction with Perth Fashion Festival alongside artist and close friend Anya Brock. We both have the same subject matter so the process was a quick but easy one. Organised in 3 weeks I had six 71 cm x 101 cm canvasses to order, paint and deliver! There was a small AM opening for press, CQ and PFF staff and they are up and for sale until Oct 6th. I'm equally obsessed with Daphne Groeneveld and Frida Gustavsson (top left & right).

And dont forget to visit my new catwalk illustration blog Sketch Show! And please FOLLOW! xpip

Claremont Quarter Fashion Fortnight

I have spent the last month or so working on illustrations for Claremont Quarter's Fashion Fortnight campaign and have just now had the chance to blog about it! It was such a great project to work on and I got to experiment with my new love of mixing watercolour and pencils. The illustrations are all over the center and W.A's print media which has been amazing to see. The stores there are so amazing (Sass & Bide, Zara Bryson, Mecca) that I have already spent my earnings, whoops!

Another 30 min

This time in COLOUR! Quick concept sketch for Monday's upcoming post. Not a huge amount of effort put in but sometimes that's better cos there is less pressure and it ends up nice and loose. The model, btw, is . I like: the way her first name is spelled, the fact she has 'cute' in her last name and she is wearing that amazing Christopher Kane pink lace dress!

Sass & Bide S/S 11

About 6 months ago I got pretty obsessed with that pink raffia skirt by Sass & Bide. I harassed the poor girls at the S&B store in Perth till I finally bought it. While I was coveting I drew it and some other faves from the collection. Then I got invited to the Claremont store opening and got to meet Sarah-Jane and their gorgeous PR manager at the time Jacqueline Perrett! A dream since I was a fashion student 7 yrs ago. So I sent this to them the other day.

Natalia Vodianova @ 399

A couple of nights ago I participated in a Perth illustrators sketch group at 399 Bar. It was great fun meeting everyone and drinking wine and chatting about art stuff because I don't have many friends I can do that with (which can sometimes be a positive thing too). I brought a copy of Vogue Italia (supplement) Sep 2006 and did some 30 min, randomly picked couture images. This is the 1st.

Abbey Lee Kershaw (30min)

I have been going to lots of life drawing classes lately and the thing I love most about them is the warm up time. Having to put down something in 30 seconds and 1, 2 and 5 minuets. So today I did a 30 min sketch of Abbey Lee. I gave myself 2 mins for initial pencil layout, 10 mins for ink and the rest for filling in detail with charcoal pencil. Now for a colour one...

Arizona Muse 2

Promised you! The second illustration of Arizona. Now I can move on to the rest of the 'Draw It NOW' file. I'm liking this technique of laying down watercolour then drawing over the top in colour pencils so will continue on with that till I get bored of it again!

Arizona Muse

I have a permanent file on my desk-top called 'Draw This'. I put all the images I come across and fall in love with in it. Nothing ever gets drawn. I get bored of them so quickly, so, the file has been re-named 'Draw This NOW'! Arizona went in there this morning and came out this afternoon! She is A3 so excuse the photo instead of a scan, off to do another one!

300 Folowers!

Today I have 300 lovely lovelies following me! I'm so thankful:) It was a year ago exactly that I had 100 followers! So I thought I'd post a little sample of the Fall 2011 collections I have been putting into a sketch book, I plan to do this every season (but not cruise and pre-fall, cos I'm not on board with those yet, haha!). Should I do another blog devoted to them? Possibly...

Hilary-Eniko-Missy

Another For the card/print series. Not long now, just working out the business side of it all (something that artists are notoriously bad at doing!). She seams to be a hybrid between Hilary Rhoda, Eniko Mihalik and Missy Rayder. Just cant keep away from those baby pink backgrounds, looks so sweet with the red!

Victoria

The pink obsession continues! This time inspired by a Shop Till You Drop T-Birds editorial in the Dec 2010 issue. Original photograph by the super talented Steven Chee (love his retro vibe) Styled by Jesse Hart. Our Model is Victoria @ Chadwick Models but cant find her on the site! I have digitally coloured the background this time:)

CoCo

Decided that I'm way too obsessed with my Prismacolour pencils and need to branch out! So the lovely Jackson's kids recommended Art Spectrum Masking Fluid so I had a big play. I used black ink and masking fluid and photocopied the finished product to acetate. After that I washed colour onto some watercolour paper and overlaid the acetate. Here is Coco Rocha doing what she does best- Dancing!

Aurelio Costarella PFF

So my lil' old blog is being featured in Perth Fashion Festival this year. I will be doing a series on Perth designers and this one is the first. The lovely Perth model Tammy Stone wearing my favorite designer Aurelio Costarella! I'm so happy with the way it turned out. Cant wait to frame it in an old gold gilt frame.

FASHIONWA.COM

I did this illustration for FASHIONWA about a year ago. It was adapted from a photo taken by the fabulous Penny Lane (another Perthie). It seems more relevant than ever to post it now because I have been watching Australia's Next Top Model which stars gorgeous WA girl Jessie Maloney! And Perth Fashion Festival is coming up...

399 Portraits #2

This is the second from the 399 Bar portraits. This is my favorite one because it has a darker more mysterious feel to it. It hasn't sold yet! Acrylic and paint pens on canvass.

399 Portraits

I was recently asked by 399 Bar, a lovely little place just down the street from me, to contribute four pieces to their walls. This one sold yesterday:) Definitely going to do some more like this! Acrylic, paint pens and spray paint on canvass, 61cm x 76cm

Isabeli Fontana

What to do for an old friend who recently moved into his very own bachelor pad and wants a piece for his wall? Super hot Isabeli Fontana of course! (with exaggerated 'boobage', his words, not mine). 1.6 x1.5M acrylic, paint pen and spray paint on canvass.
